Everything Concerning Lips by Mytherea Everything Concerning Lips by Mytherea
And here's the second tutorial answering the second half of ~Lilac-the-fox99's question, who had asked how I draw noses and lips. Surprisingly, these little things are easier to put out than I'd thought! It only took me about four, five hours for this one. :meow:
While working on this it's companion tutorial, I'd been listening to a lot of Flogging Molly, which I'd forgotten how much I liked. Go listen to some Irish rock, 'kay? [link]
While you're at it, if you liked this tutorial, why not check out the group I head, dedicated to teaching and tutorials? Head over to #MAA-DynastyCafe and take a look!

I do not claim to be an amazing/perfect artist, nor do I claim that this tutorial is perfect or 100% anatomically correct. I also advise you to not use this tutorial exclusively. Look elsewhere for further reference, study real people and photos for yourself, and practice and hone your skills.

If you enjoyed my tutorials or any of my art, please consider donating $1 through paypal to go towards my college tuition. I need about $3000 still to attend college and even a dollar would make my day a thousand times over. If you've got it to spare, please send it to:
Thank you! (no, you don't have to do this, but it would be really nice if you did)

EDIT: As much as I wish I could, I can't personally thank every single person who favorites this, it's getting far too difficult and I just can't keep up with it anymore, especially with the spam filter.
THANK YOU FOR THE :+fav:! :tighthug:

I've always had a hard time getting lips to look "right" when I draw them - this tutorial was very helpful! I can now draw lips that actually look like lips and not just weird lines in the face. Thank you for making this!

I was wondering, I read your tutorial and got to the painting part. I'm stuck. You say the bottom lip is always more pink, but the character I'm painting is grey skinned. What's your advice?
Mytherea Nov 13, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
Well, pinker. For pale skin, it's pink, but for darker skin tones, it's usually a sort of reddish-tan. For grey skin, I'd maybe go with a paler grey with a hint of pink to it, so on the Photoshop color picker, take your grey and move it up and a little to the right, but not too far right, otherwise, they'll look like they've got lipstick on them. If you're going for really dead looking skin, go with a paler grey but with either no pink or maybe a tint of purple or blue instead.
My :twocents:.
