Well, did a bit more work on this on Thursday, and a lot more work on it today. Bit of a dramatic jump between WIP 1 and WIP 2, eh?
Morviahn is, for the most part, finished. I may do some tweaking later, and by the end of this painting, he's going to be covered in blood, but all the structural and most of the detail painting is done with him. Now...for his mother...I so do NOT want to paint her...urg...so many problems with the sketch and that damn ethereal look...this will not be fun.

I am damn proud of his eyes. They are my single favourite part of the painting so far. Well, maybe the heart too. I've never painted a heart before.
And no, I'm not putting up a dA filter on this. I probably won't even put up the filter once he's painted himself with his brother's innards...I don't like maturity filters. >.>

I finally found a halfway decent version of Room of an Angel sung by a man. This one has a few problems (he falls out of key a few times, his accent triples towards the end, and there's one major mispronunciation) but damn he's got a good voice for this song. It works well for Morviahn.

Even though you were not finished with his piece it looks as though a spirit is behind him... Love it!!!

TEEHEEHEE I'm sorry but I'm super immature and I giggled at his pretty body being censored by shadows.

I want to see this to the end :O

Yeah, I'm not all that...experienced when it comes to drawing genitalia, so I sort of...censor it (better than what I used to do...beware the sexless wonders). That, and I believe in the 'Less is more' and that people will...well, imagine what they want. ;) Another part of it is that I hadn't planned to go much past his hips, but he looked awkward without the beginning of his legs.

Well, I'm hoping to get most of the painting done in the next two days, so I'll be one piece ahead of my class assignments (as this is both a personal painting and a school painting for my AP Art focus), so I'll get to slack off at some point in October without worry. This will be...fun to present to my teach. I am so very glad we have a woman teacher now rather than a man...

I'll also be making a tutorial for blood, blood splatters, and making it all look good when I get to that point in the painting. :la:

^ I just noticed my original comment sounded kind of douchebaggy; sorry D:
And I can totally understand the lack of genitalia. I mean... um... I don't think anybody really practices drawing those on a daily basis, so I agree with the "less is more" mindframe ;)

Your teacher is gonna be like "WHOA COOL ATMOSPHERE"

I... um.. kind of noticed something a few WIPs ago, but now I'm worried that it's set. The corners of his eyes look a bit too slanted upwards; I know that slant-up eyes give a more villainous feel, but I kind of think that they're a bit too slanted... But that's the only thing that was kind of bugging me. /twocents

Pah, it made me smile, really. ;)
Erm...most of the guys at school do...but I don't think they count.
Oh, yeah, I can totally see her saying that. No, she'd probably give me that look and point out some problem with the anatomy or colouration or something and totally ignore the fact that he's in the nude.

Nothing's set it stone with my work. But to be honest with you, velrocci (his species/race) have very dramatically slanted eyes that a bit large for their heads. Even the nicest of the nice velrocci have the slanted eyes, so it has little to do with the villainous feel (though it probably was originally meant to make them look more evil years back when I started drawing 'em). They've got a very strange skull shape, which is sort of swept back and slanted. At some point I'll draw a profile view and you'll be able to see what I'm talking about.
His eyes were too sharply angled originally, so I moved them a little bit in this WIP.
Your two cents is always appreciated! :twocents:
